The H1N1 Saga (continued)

Yesterday I took the day off to get Theo his second vaccination. I expected this to be far more difficult, given that the priority list had been greatly expanded (kids from the age of 6 months to 14 years are now eligible to get vaccinated - as of last night this list was even further expanded to cover the entire population).

A bit of luck did have something to do with our relatively easy going day. We started our day by getting ready as usual - actually, we were running late, but I eventually did drop Theo off at daycare. After that I thought I would drive by the Tom Brown Arena to see how long the line up was or if there even was a line...so I stopped and thought I would go and pester the security guard (who turned out to be a really easy going guy) to find out where things were at. Much to my surprize they were already giving out numbered bracelets. Within two minutes (at shortly after 9 am) I was given a bracelet for Theo as well as a time (3:30 pm) to return for him to be given the actual vaccination. I'm so glad I decided to stop. If I had followed my original plan I would have shown up around 1 pm or so and would have been told that all bracelets had already been distributed and I would have had to return the following day.

As it was I picked up Theo from daycare at about 1:30 pm for a stint at Boomerang Kids, which was fun. After that we picked up Jamie at work so that we could all go back for Theo's vaccination together.

Theo was so brave (he hardly cried at all!), although he was scared. He remembered his first H1N1 vaccination very well! But he held still and it was over before he knew it! The nurse was really great with him and Jamie was on standby with a lolly pop! But was Theo ever happy when he found out that he would never have to get one of these vaccinations again - well, he'll get more vaccinations. Just not for H1N1 or for the forseeable future for that matter...

After that we home and hung out for a little while, then went to Theo's gymnastics class and finally finished the day off with a Pizza Shark pizza!

Surprizingly we all felt like it had been a really fun day!
