Canada Day! A Couple of Days Later!

Well, Canada day was fun! That day we took it easy in the morning and slept in. It was great! After breakfast my brother came over to our place and from there we biked downtown to look around, watch the buskers and have some fun. And it was fun, although from now on I'm going to avoid Wellington Street at all cost on Canada day!!! We nearly got stuck in the crowd in front of Parliament Hill. It's not really a smaller child friendly space on that day. Lesson learned! Thankfully I had converted our bicycle trailor into a stroller, which guaranteed that Theo was perfectly safe in the human crunch we found ourselves in for about 15 minutes! It was like he was sitting in a bubble! But we made it out eventually and had a wonderful time watching the festivities on Sparks Street instead! Here are some pics from that part of our day.

Theo wearing his new scarf - Mommy forgot to bring a hat unfortunately and it was hot and sunny.

Theo watching one of the buskers.

The busker again.

Leaning on mommy watching the festivities.

My brother Yousif - candid shot.

Another busker!

Theo in his 'bubble' nearly falling asleep as I was hitching the trailer up to my bike again.

Theo fell asleep on the way home and had a wonderful and long nap (yep, I got some stuff done in the garden during that time!!!)! After he woke up we went to the wading pool at the community centre and Theo had a wonderful time there! He went into the deep end of the wading pool by himself for the very first time!!! It was great! Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera. Theo was also really happy to see the lifeguards again. Solomon, Katie and Sarah have been lifeguarding there for years and have known Theo since he was 3 months old! He LOVES them!

After that we visited with Angela and Lamberto and then joined the party at Erin's and Chris' place! Note to self - have dinner before having that Marguerita!!! Theo had a wonderful time playing games at their place (I have to remember to ask them what the name of that throwing game is) and munching on chips on their front porch!

In the evening we didn't make it to the big fire works unfortunately. I was still labouring under the illusion that Theo would be asleep before 10 pm that day! ;) Anyway, since he was awake we ran downstairs to see if the fireworks were on TV - they were not - but luckily some neighbours were setting off their own fireworks on our street pretty much in front of our house! So Theo and I sat on the stairs in front of our porch cheering them on!!! It was so much fun! But next year I'll definitely make sure that we go and find a good spot to watch the big fireworks - doesn't matter how late he goes to bed. It's bound to be loud in our neighbourhood and Theo won't sleep early anyways! :)

All in all it was a fantastic day!!! But we did miss Jamie! I wish he could have been there with us! That night Theo left Jamie another message on his cellphone voicemail. He is such a sweet little guy! Jamie has been listening to his messages from Equador and has been loving them! I would too! :)

Over and out for now.
