Here is the story. Jamie and I took some time off last week and also this past Monday, which enabled us to visit with friends and family in and around the Toronto area. We started our trip off with a visit with our dear friends Stephanie and Mark whom we had not had a chance to see for almost four years. As a caption under my Facebook photo album to commemorate the event I wrote that I can't wait for something like a teleporter to be developed as we don't get to see these two wonderful people nearly enough and I mean it! :)
Jamie, Theo and I had a lovely time visiting with the two of them! And Theo, who got to hold a real sword for the first time ever (with some assistance from Mark of course), had an especially great time at their place! Mark is definitely Theo's new best friend for life!!! The expressions he had on his face when he got to hold the sword and after that the scabbard of the swort was the best!

And finding a giant inflatable Gumbi in the shower just sealed the deal for Theo! Mark is one of the funniest humans I know! He hid this inflatable Gumbi in their shower to surprize Theo with! Theo was thrilled! :)
While we were there we had a great time visiting - and chatting after Theo had gone to sleep in the evenings, but we also went to visit the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), which was a great experience! Stephanie unfortunately had to work, but Mark came along for the day, which was nice. Jamie and I had not been there since we were teenagers and this was the first time for Theo! He loved seing the dinosaur fossils (and finding them on the kids archeology tables), dressing up as a knight in real armour (it was really heavy! Jamie had to hold on to him from the back so that Theo wouldn't fall over) and he loved dressing up as a pirate! The ROM is a fantastic place to take kids!

Theo at the kids tables uncovering dinosaur bones! He was seriously thrilled!

Maybe he'll become and archeologist? :)

Theo had a great time dressing up and we had a wonderful time watching the whole process! :)
On Saturday we left Mark's and Stephanie's place but not before taking a final picture of the lot of us! I really do wish that they lived closer to us!!!

The next stage of our trip took us to Aurora to visit with Jamie's godbrother and his family there. But not before we went for a visit at the Toronto Zoo where we met up with Jamie's friend Adrian and his son Finn (I accidentally called him Felix at first - I am so bad with names! Thankfully Finn didn't take this personally!). We had a nice time there also, although not all the exhibits were open (they close some of them off during the off season). It was still great fun! Theo loved the giraffes, the gorillas and the tigers in particular! Well, mostly the giraffes and tigers. I liked the gorillas! Unfortunately I had forgotten to pack my camera's battery charger, so I don't have any pictures from this point onwards. Jamie took some on his Iphone (which I continue to covet shamelessly). Hopefully I'll be able to post here soon.
After our visit with Adrian and Finn at the Toronto Zoo, we went to visit Jamie's godbrother Chris, his wife Maureen and Theo's cousin Erin, whom Theo absolutely loves! The surprize of this visit was that Chris' brother Jeremy, his wife Anna and Theo's other cousins Quinn and Meghan also decided to come for a visit when they found out that we would be there! It was great to see everyone in one place again! While there we visted the Ward family farm for the last time (it had been sold the night before - this is also where Theo had his accident) we had fun on Chris', Maureen's and Erin's giant trampoline, tobogganed down the hill in their backyard and just generally relaxed. It was a lovely visit!
On our way back to Ottawa, Theo, Jamie and I managed to also fit in a visit with my parents in Peterborough. This was really nice as they are leaving for Lebanon again this Saturday and won't be back until April or May. This way they got to see Theo one more time before they left.
Overall this was a really great extended weekend with wonderful visits with dear friends and family. Hopefully we can do something like this again very soon!
