Santa Claus 2009

Last weekend - on Saturday actually - we went to see Santa at Billings Bridge Mall. We got there five minutes late - Santa was taking a break and was having no more visits for another two hours! Bah humbug! Well, instead of waiting around or coming back later we left (after Theo waved at Santa) and headed for Carlingwood Mall where the Santa (as well as a Fairy Princess -which I thought was a bit strange, but never mind, the kids loved her also) seemed to always be on duty.

And this Santa was great! He took a lot of time to actually talk to the kids and take their letters to him and was just really great all round (no pun intended *grins*). Theo LOVED him! And the picture turned out pretty well also!

That evening we also went to the Santa Claus Parade, which Theo had a great time at (once he woke up - he had fallen asleep on our way home from grandma's and grandpa's place)! He ate two candy canes and did a lot of waving at firemen. There were a lot of firemen in that parade! And he loved the elves and Santa of course! It was a long day, but well worth it!

I've got one more thing to write about here though. Grandma is a member of the Raging Grannies, who had joined the parade to hand out flyers in opposition to war toys being given to kids for Christmas. I think it was a good idea to do this, but maybe the signs they were holding in addition to handing out the flyers were a bit much. Grandma told us the next day that people had quite a hostile reaction to the Grannies, so the Grannies decided to drop out of the parade after a short time. It's too bad. I think handing out those flyers was a good idea.
