I want to write down my thoughts. So what are my thoughts for today? I wish I could fix things for everyone. I wish that...life wasn't so complicated. But maybe it isn't and I just manage to make things that way...sometimes that is true and sometimes it is not. But whatever it is, the grand design isn't mine and I'm just going to go with the flow of things. Work is good, life is good, Theo is doing great! He really is a funny guy. Takes after me in the mornings. He REALLY doesn't want to get up in the mornings. He usually cheers up by the time we get downstairs for breakfast though, so that's good.
What have you learned or done that is new recently Theo? You have learned to climb up and down the stairs very well, you can climb into that airplane bouncy toy at the zoo all by yourself, you have gone onto SuperEx rides all by yourself, you LOVE motorcycles, you love Timbits (we only get those when we go on a long drive to visit my mom), and any form of truck or tractor of course, you love to push your stroller by yourself, you love Grandma's cookies and chocolate (he hated his chocolate cake on his first birthday - things change *grins*), icecream (who hates icecream anyways), rice (believe it or not), apples, bananas, cheese (old cheddar of course), muffins, fruit bars (but not much fruit - but Cheryl told me the other day that you like the fruit cups, so maybe I'll buy some soon!), you love to go swimming (in the wading pool or at the cottage), you love to go swinging, to boss the dog around, you love umbrellas and you love to help! Theo is a great helper and loves to clean up! YAY! But he is also excellent at making a huge mess of the play room formerly known as our living room! :)

Theo is a fairly good eater. He loves pasta, rice, and meat (A LOT - especially sausages), corn on the cob, peas, creamed corn, taters, olives (preferably the green ones or ones stuffed with garlic), pizza (he loves to pick the olives off and eat them first - and the meat of course), and any form of soup with crackers. But he usually eats all the meat, when there is pasta quite a bit of pasta, and some small amount of vegetables if any. Corn on the cob he will usually eat - the other stuff - well, it's a hit and miss. I wish he would eat more vegetables! And I wish I was more inventive about cooking! I will just have to learn.
It's so funny...I always used to think that kids develop based on what they are exposed to. WRONG - well, it's not entirely wrong, but...since Theo was little we were never very gender specific when it came to his toys or clothes or anything really. He always had both dolls, bears cars or whatever to play with - if it was interesting it was fun. We dressed him in all kinds of colours. My favourite colour on him was and still is orange. What does he really like? Motorcycles, cars, trucks, tractors, firetrucks, soccer (I wholeheartedly agree here!!!) and hockey! When he was about 16 months old I walked past his room and heard him yell 'hockey, hockey' in his sleep! It was too funny!
Speaking of colours - Theo is not very good at distinguishing between colours yet...my brother was (and probably still is) colour blind. Maybe Theo is too. Only time will tell. My brother tells me that he has a hard time seeing green and red and that he can't distinguish between metallic colours (he used to work at some sort of paint shop and usually couldn't mix the metallics for that reason). I don't know much about this type of thing, but I will do some research and find out about colour blindness.
Theo LOVES to talk - about everything. Jamie (my husband) says that on the drive to daycare in the mornings Theo doesn't have a lot to say. He just looks out the window of the car and relaxes. When he is picked up, however, Theo has a lot to say! He talks about everything and often comes out with the most unexpected things! Very funny!
What does he like to say these days? 'Be myself!' (meaning by myself), 'Yeah - sure', 'I see', 'Me too!', 'Why?', 'Because', 'No', 'I want to watch TV' (not my favourite although I'm guilty of sitting there with him when he does get to watch), 'I want some bubbly' (meaning sparkling mineral water - much better than pop!), 'I want to go to Oma's'...he says lots and it is fun! I still remember the days of him wanting something and not being able to tell me what it was! I remember one instance where he was learning to talk - he was teething at the time. He was sitting in his highchair in the kitchen and started yelling and stretching his arm towards the kitchen counter yelling 'this' over and over again. In the end I figured out that his teeth were hurting and he wanted me to give him his medicine (which I didn't realize he had seen standing on the counter behind the cutting board). And what I used to say to him when I would give him his medicine (sort of asking him if it was ok to give him the medicine) was if he wanted 'this' meaning his medicine when I could tell he was hurting. So to him the bottle of baby tylenol became 'this'. Too funny!
Anyway...after finally extricating Theo out of his bed this morning we had a fairly cheerful breakfast (once he agreed that's what was going to happen), watched some TV and then started out day. I hope Theo is having a nice day. Work is going well for me today, but it is a bit slow, but I'm sure things will pick up in a little while...
My friend Donna had their second daughter a couple of days ago. She is a beautiful little girl! I'm so happy for them! And M., their older daughter, will be a great big sister!!! Hopefully I'll be able to visit them some time soon! Congrats to the four of them! And may they get lots of sleep very soon!!! When Theo was really small he only slept 2-4 hours at a time and I counted myself really lucky to get 4 hours of sleep!!! :)
Ok, that's it for today. More to follow tomorrow...

Ok, I'll do that very soon! I'm still a bit stuffed up and don't want to give the wee one anything!
But I'll be there very soon! I can't wait to meet her!
